1958 Mercedes Benz 220 S Ponton Cabriolet (W180)

The 220S debuted at Frankfurt in 1956 as the top of a new line of cars. It used the company's envelope-style “ponton” body and shared a strong family resemblance to the sporty 190SL and legendary 300SL. Unlike those specialty two-seaters, the 220 S was hand-built to carry passengers in luxury on a daily basis. Mercedes built just 1,280 Coupe’s and Cabriolets in 1958, and a total of 3,429 in its 4 years of production.

After just being released from the world renowned Mercseum collection, a private collection of post-war Mercedes-Benz vehicles located close to Cape Town, South Africa, you could be the next to own a museum quality vehicle. This 220 S Ponton Cabriolet has a slightly older restoration, but has been meticulously maintained and documented. Though from a museum collection it has been often driven and is a dream on the open road.

This 1958 Mercedes-Benz 220 S Ponton Cabriolet is an excellent original car that's been under Mercseum's ownership for most of its life. Red exterior with complimenting light tan leather interior and a desirable cabriolet model. It runs and drives well and is very straight, solid, and honest overall. A wonderful opportunity to own and drive a lovely 220s.
