The Ferrari 812 Superfast is the latest evolution of Ferrari’s front engine, rear wheel drive grand tourer. The Superfast does what it says on the brochure; its 6.5-litre V12 makes a round 800hp. This makes the engine found in the Ferrari the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine ever produced to date! With all modern Ferrari’s changing with the times, opting to go with a smaller displacement turbo charged with hybrid technology, the 812 Superfast is Ferrari’s last naturally aspirated V12 production car. The engine alone will be an appreciating asset. It’s also a GT at heart, so it does pack a few more luxuries and a decent boot.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission derived from the gearbox found in the 458 Italia. The brakes needed to be upgraded to accommodate all the extra grunt. To do this, Ferrari borrowed the carbon ceramic brakes from the LaFerrari hypercar. The 812 also features the rear wheel steering system as found in the F12 TDF which was a hardcore version of the F12 Berlinetta-the 812’s predecessor.

Ferrari has been a good customer to world-class designers like Pininfarina, Zagato and Giorgetto Giugiaro, but for its anniversary celebration, the brand from Maranello is keeping things all in the family. Styling for the 812 Superfast was penned at Ferrari’s own design studio. The car is a clear evolution of the F12Berlinetta. It borrows tail lights from the four-seat GTC4Lusso and uses more aggressive sculpting to set itself apart from the preceding model.
